Smoke and Pineapple, The One Everyone Recognises
Blackcurrant, bergamot and pineapple open it, fruity and fresh and slightly unexpected on a men's fragrance. Then the smoke arrives, birch and juniper berries with patchouli and jasmine, giving it that dry, confident quality it's known for. Musk, oak moss, vanilla and ambergris finish it clean and expensive.
Built for daylight and for being taken seriously. Interviews, meetings, the first hour of an evening.
This is the one where the format matters most
Everyone has tried a version of this scent that opens brilliantly and is gone by eleven. That's alcohol doing it. The pineapple and bergamot sit right at the top of the composition, which is exactly the part that evaporates first, and once they've gone you're left with the dry woods on their own.
Oil has nothing to burn off. It releases slowly, so the fruit and the smoke stay in the same frame for hours rather than minutes. If a spray version of this has ever disappointed you, this is why.
Why 10ml is not a small bottle
Concentrated oil is a dab at the wrists and the base of the neck, not three or four sprays into the air. A 3ml gives around sixty wearings. The 10ml runs to roughly two hundred.
Never worn an oil before?
Start with the 3ml at £5.99. Dab it on, don't rub it in, and give it ten minutes before you decide. Oils open on the skin rather than in the air, so the first thirty seconds tell you almost nothing.
Alcohol-free and concentrated.
Want the spray anyway? The same blend is available as a parfum in 30ml and 50ml, from £9.99. See 992 Parfum →
